Content Platforms & Operations is responsible for the development and ongoing advancement of the technical and operational functions driving the worldwide distribution and monetization of Disney’s linear networks and theatrical content. This includes Disney’s media supply chain and storage, network and theatrical distribution operations, media localization, network transmission and origination, and more. The global team also plays a critical role as the primary collaboration point for Product & Technology with Disney’s EMEA, APAC, and LATAM regional business teams. The Streaming Disney Entertainment & ESPN Transmission team supports 24/7 monitoring and operational sustainment for Linear and Event streaming products; HULU, ESPN+, and Disney+. As a member of our 24/7, highly skilled streaming transmission team, you will support critical streaming broadcast systems, oversee and analyzing audio/video transmissions across multiple data centers and ensuring successful management, monitoring, and delivery of live linear and live event broadcast streams, within the IP based transmission ecosystem. You will work with innovative technology and be responsible for The Walt Disney Company’s most valuable sports and entertainment content airing on our linear and event streaming platforms. Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily responsibilities of the TOC operational staff. This includes but not limited to scheduling assessment & role assignments, follow up on network discrepancies & critical reporting, manage training & on-going learning opportunities.
  • Ownership of direct report relationships & oversight of annual commitments, six month & yearly performance reviews.
  • Participation in the screening, interviewing & recommendations associated with the hiring process for the Streaming team.
  • Accountable for assigned projects & keeping leadership apprised of updates, challenges, or successful completion.
  • Build relationships with internal & external business partners.
  • Manages a team of individual contributor direct reports (non-exempt.)
  • Administers employee performance evaluations in collaboration with Transmission Managers.
  • Creates competency training plans for TOC Engineers and oversees their implementation.
  • Coordinates Operations staff & workflows to ensure error free operations, optimum staff allocation and workflow efficiency during assigned shift.
  • Provides oversight, operational guidance, and performance related feedback to the Transmission Operations staff.
  • Assists Managers in the creation & administration of departmental policy & standard operating procedures.
  • Communicates operational issues & appropriate follow-up information with all affected parties, assuring awareness for all stakeholders.
  • Requires a comprehensive understanding of department functions & roles for proper coordination with department managers & staff.
  • Provides research, analysis, information, and assistance in developing essential Transmission area technical modifications & upgrades.
  • Works with Engineering teams as a primary Transmission management liaison to implement forward thinking projects to prepare for growth or “next gen” technology.
  • Administers staff assignments & performs on-the-spot reassignments as needed.
  • Steps in as needed to provide operational guidance to Operations & Engineering personnel in diagnosing and determining corrective action.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5-years experience in the broadcast industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of the workings of advanced Transmission or Broadcast Operation Centers.
  • Must exhibit an elevated level of leadership skills & maturity.
  • Basic project management skills to help drive results.
  • Ability to react quickly & effectively to issues that arise whether they are air affecting, scheduling, customer related, etc.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
